“There’s More To Do, But I Believe In New Mexico And That Tomorrow Will Be Better Than Today”

Albuquerque, NM — Governor Susana Martinez today launched the first television commercial for her re-election campaign titled, “Helping People.” The commercial can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1LsrdV4458

“Governor Martinez is running a hopeful and optimistic campaign that highlights her reforms to move New Mexico forward, while our opponents continue their shrill, negative attacks aimed at returning our state to the failed policies of Bill Richardson,” campaign spokesman Chris Sanchez said.

The advertisement highlights the challenging situation Governor Martinez inherited upon taking office. This includes confronting the largest structural budget deficit in state history, along with the fact that federal budget cuts have made things even more difficult for New Mexicans.

Working across party lines, Governor Martinez eliminated the deficit, passed a bi-partisan jobs package and enacted education reforms that are making a real difference in the lives of New Mexicans. Specifically, New Mexico moved from 38th in export growth to 1st, graduation rates are on the rise, and Hispanic students in New Mexico now lead the nation on advanced placement tests.

Martinez acknowledges that we have much more work to do, but strikes an optimistic note in the conclusion of her ad by saying, “I believe in New Mexico and that tomorrow will be better than today.”

The commercial will be running statewide on broadcast and cable.
